What is it?
The Labrador Home Hub is a device that bridges your home smart meter and the Labrador service.
Here's what it looks like:
What does it do?
It connects to your smart meter through your home broadband and captures your energy usage in real time. This allows the Labrador service to use your actual usage to search the market for better energy deals that you can switch to. Because it connects to the Internet, it's important that you have a dedicated Internet connection if you want this device.
If you'd like to know more, check out our "How it works" page where you will find more information about what this device does along with a helpful video guide.
How does it work?
When the Labrador Home Hub is plugged in, it will initiate a pairing request with your energy provider behind the scenes to connect with your home smart meter. When the request is approved, the device will start reading your home smart meter that you can monitor this from your computer or mobile gadgets.
The pairing process happens automatically so there is no need for a visit from an engineer to get anything working from you end.
How much is it?
This device is free.
The only two requirements that you need to fulfil before you can receive one are these:
- You need to have a smart meter installed at home. If you don't have one, that's okay. Just let us know and we'll arrange for one to be installed in your home.
- You need to have a dedicated Internet connection at home.
If you fulfil these conditions and you'd like one, just let us know and we'll send one over to your address.
Is it heavy?
It is not.
Does it come in different colours?
Not at the moment. In what colour would you like your device? We're not making any promises but if there's an overwhelming request for a specific colour, we'll see what we can do to make it happen. Let us know!
Is it difficult to install?
It's pretty easy, actually. Check out our "How do I install the Labrador device?" article for the complete step-by-step instructions.
