Why should I bother?
Switching energy providers can be a real headache and let's face, not the most exciting thing in the world. The energy market is a constantly changing landscape with new suppliers entering the market, some offering more tariff options than you would care to imagine. Add to this frequently changing prices to fuel types and you have an industry than can be hard to keep on top of.
Everyone (including us) seems to be saying that with some effort, you could potentially save a significant amount of money just by switching. However, is the amount saved is proportional to the hours and energy spent on researching new tariffs? This seems to be the gripe with most people.
How much could I save?
Everyone's mile will vary, however the Energy Helpline's most recent survey of 100,000 switches shows that a significant number of household energy consumers were able to save an average of £537 per year by switching!
Imagine if you could spend an extra holiday this year just by switching to a new energy supplier. How about Los Angeles for a bit celebrity sightings? Or get a bit of extra sun in Dubai? Or go to a tropical island of Bali for some R&R? Wouldn't that be brilliant!
When is a good time for me to switch?
Labrador is constantly monitoring the market to save you the headache and time of having to keep on top of changes - ultimately making switching and saving more streamlined and efficient.
On average, our customers switch once or twice a year. Exit fees (where applicable) are taken into account so they don't end up out of pocket when they switch. Our system is set up to keep that in mind so our customers don't have to worry about that.
What if I'm not ready to switch?
There may be a number of reasons why you may want to stay with your current supplier, even though we are able to offer you a cheaper one. Upcoming move to a new home is one of the common ones.
That's completely okay. With Labrador, you have complete control over your switching preferences so we will only switch you if these are met and when you are ready to do so.
If don't foresee any immediate changes in your household situation, you can set your switching preferences to automatic. When we find a cheaper tariff than what you currently have, we'll automatically switch you and let you know about it. Otherwise, you can always set your switching preference to alert so that switching will not happen without your say-so.
Either way, you can always cancel any switch, manual or automatic, within 14 days if you change your mind.
